red led (solid) with new Mifi 2352

I've bought a new Mifi 2352.

But when I connect the device to the poweroutlet there is only a red led (solid).

After hours the battery isn't charged.

And yes, the sim-card and battery are correct placed.

 What to do?

(no other functions works, a reset has no effect)

It looks like you have a hardware problem.   If so, your best bet is to replace the item.

What happens in USB mode?

I have the exact same problem too. I live in HK, which is using 220V voltage. When I connect the mifi with the charger, the power led shows solid red too. The led stays red even when I unplug the "micro" usb cable, and the device got no response whatsoever when I press the power button. I have to shake the mifi several times and the red led will "fade" away and turn itself off ( I guess this will make the battery kind of disconnect its contact with the device).

From the user manual, solid red means "error".

Next, I try connect the usb cable that shipped with it to PC or Mac. In both case, the power led flash in amber, which means it does charging properly. This makes me wonder may be the charger  is faulty or the usb cable of the power supply is faulty.

Another thing I have tried is connect the usb cable with mifi, and plug the standard USB end to the iPhone charger. As expected, the mifi flash with amber, and charges normally.

So, I suppose the mifi charger is faulty and need to be replaced.

In this case you should replace it or send for warranty service.

I have exactly the same problem.

Brand new Mifi 2352 and faulty from day one.

I charge the battery and disconnect the cable. The led remains solid red.

The battery is not charged completely.

I can not power off the device when I press the power on/off button.

I guess this seems to be a quality issue in manufacturing....
